LCA-study results in excellent Environmental Cost Indicator (ECI) value
We carried out a LCA study , from which an ECI value emerged. This is between € 0.83 – € 2.12 m1 for our krafton® bridge deck planks, which converts to € 2.60 – € 5.30 per m2. Compared to a bridge deck made of wood, this is between 46.7 – 73.9% lower, where the wooden deck must be replaced every 20 years (based on the EPD product card Footbridge (wood), category 3). In comparison to a bridge deck made press locked gratings, it is between 78.2 – 89.3 % lower, were the grating to be replaced every 50 years (based on the NMD product map Press locked gratings; steel, galvanized, coated, category 3).
Relative to a walkway made of wood or steel walkway grates, the krafton® bridge deck plank does not need to be replaced every 20 or 50 years, but can remain in place for 100 years. This makes the krafton® bridge deck plank not only a sustainable choice, but also saves in labor hours.

ECI value krafton® 520.35 FRP Bridge Decking Plank €2,60 per m2
The krafton® 520.35 plank has an ECI value of €1.30 m1 which converts to €2.60 m2, for a service life of 100 years. In comparison with a bridge deck made of wood, this is 73.9% lower, were a wooden deck must be replaced every 20 years (based on the EPD product card Footbridge (wood), category 3). In comparison with a bridge deck made of steel walking grids, this is 89.3% lower, were the steel walking grid needs to be replaced every 50 years (based on the EPD product card Walking grid; steel, galvanized and coated, category 3).

The krafton® 500.55 plank has an ECI value of €1.68 m1 which converts to €3.36 m2, for a service life of 100 years. In comparison with a bridge deck made of wood, this is 66% lower, were a wooden deck must be replaced every 20 years (based on the EPD product card Footbridge (wood), category 3). In comparison with a bridge deck made of steel walking grids, this is 86.2% lower, were the steel walking grid needs to be replaced every 50 years (based on the EPD product card Walking grid; steel, galvanized and coated, category 3).
